New Cylinder Heads
I've received the new heads from Jake Raby's Type IV Store and I'm happy to report that they look very nice. Here are some pictures to show the quality of the work and some of the features that make these special.
The combustion chambers are CNC machined and then double checked to make sure chamber sizes are identical - not only within the same head, but also the two heads combined. The heads are even stamped with the chamber volume and a serial number.
The spark plug locations have been welded up, then re-drilled and re-tapped at an angle to improve combustion. (I believe the angle is the same as the 914 2.0 liter heads.)
The intake ports are CNC machined for accurate port sizing:
And so are the exhaust ports. Of course all of the studs, valves, guides, seats, springs and hardware are new.
